Accumulating pearls has been a pastime of mine since the 90s, prior to that it was gemstones and finds at exotic beaches.
I started weaving macrame at age 9 in Nepal, where I also used to meet stone dealers and assist my father in designing jewellery for my mother. I then went on to make jewellery in Indonesia as a teenager, being very influenced by both Baduy tribal jewellery and the Swedish designer Torun, who was based in Jakarta.
In the late 80s I moved to London and I started by making millefiori beads and then moved on to study silversmithing at Jonathan Swans in Lewes from 1995 - 2000.
At that time I became fascinated by pearls and started incorporating them into my jewellery designs.
Having relocated to Spain in 2004 I designed sold and also imported Moroccan dance jewellery which I sold in Spain. I then stopped making jewellery altogether in 2012 upon return to the UK with the interest only rekindled during lockdown where I started to buy a selection of pearls and gemstones.
